The Human Rights Ombudsman held sessions in the Municipality of Moravče
Representatives of the Institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia worked out of office in the Municipality of Moravče on Thursday, 29 January 2026. At the premises of the municipal cultural centre, they were available to residents of the municipality and the wider region who believed that their human rights had been violated by state authorities, local community bodies or holders of public authority, and who had registered in advance for a consultation.
During the sessions, they spoke with three individuals. They addressed the case of a woman who found herself in compulsory personal bankruptcy and is facing numerous related difficulties; the case of a man who turned to the Ombudsman regarding the municipality’s response in relation to funeral services; and a case related to the preparation of a municipal spatial plan, in which the assessment of the municipality’s adherence to the principle of good administration was at the forefront.
On this occasion, Deputy Ombudsman Ivan Šelih met with the Mayor of the Municipality of Moravče, Milan Balažic, and also opened the 117th Ombudsman’s Corner at the municipal premises, intended to improve residents’ awareness of the Ombudsman’s work and the possibilities for the exercise of human rights.
The Institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia conducts its work outside its seat in order to bring its work closer to people who, due to various circumstances, cannot visit the Institution in Ljubljana. On average, representatives of the Institution visit different parts of Slovenia once a month, where individuals who have registered in advance can present their problems and alleged violations of their rights in person. This way of working enables residents to exercise their rights more easily.
