On 24 October 2022, Dr Simona Drenik Bavdek, Deputy Head of the Centre for Human Rights at the Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia, addressed the participants of the meeting of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) on the Network's approach to the rule of law, which is taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria, via video.

She highlighted the activities of the Ombudsman and the importance of the reports of the national institutions, the ENNHRI and the European Commission's Report on the Rule of Law. "The implementation of the Commission's recommendations on the state of the rule of law should be given similar attention as the implementation of the recommendations of the Universal Periodic Review on the situation of human rights", she stressed.

The Slovenian Ombudsman is also participating in a meeting of the partners of a regional project on support to national institutions in monitoring respect for fundamental rights and the rule of law, which is taking place today in Sofia.
