Ombudsman became the Easy Read Ambassador

The Human Rights Ombudsman, Peter Svetina, became one of the Easy Read Ambassadors as he has been advocating from the start of his term that the public should have access to information in a form comprehensible to them. In his opinion, easy read information is not an unrealistic standard, but a human right. Once the coronavirus situation subsides, the RISA Institution, which awards these honorary titles, will formally recognise Ombudsman Svetina at an official ceremony.

The Human Rights Ombudsman (Ombudsman) has recently adapted its presentation brochures into an easy read format. The brochures also feature illustrations and explain in a simple and clear manner when and how citizens can contact the Ombudsman. In this way, the institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman also realises the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which binds the country to provide information that is accessible and comprehensible to persons with disabilities.
