Croatia also wants to set up a Children's House to follow the example of Slovenia and some other European countries

On Monday, 17 October 2022, the Deputy Human Rights Ombudsman Jože Ruparčič hosted the Croatian Ombudsperson for Children Helenca Pirnat Dragičević, and the Croatian Minister of Justice and Public Administration Ivan Malenica. The meeting focused on the implementation of the Barnahus (Children's House) model in Slovenia. They also paid a visit to the house.

"The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia is constantly striving to strengthen child-friendly justice and treat children in various systems and institutions as subjects and not objects of rights, and was among the first in Slovenia to support the establishment of the Barnahus, which puts us alongside the most developed countries. It is about comprehensive treatment of children, victims and witnesses of criminal acts under the one-stop-shop principle. It is a place that is child-friendly, where they can feel safe, understood and accepted," the Deputy Human Rights Ombudsman said in his speech.
