This year, Slovenian Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts once again brought the Light of Peace from Bethlehem, reflecting on the relationship with the Ombudsman.
Today, December 18, 2025, Slovenian Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, along with representatives of cross-border scouts, brought the traditional Light of Peace from Bethlehem to the Office of the Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia. This year, they were welcomed on behalf of the institution by Deputy Ombudsman Dr. Jože Ruparčič.
They also emphasized that the Light of Peace from Bethlehem is a symbol of peace that does not come from external glitz, but from a person's inner attitude and relationships. They emphasized that the Light of Peace from Bethlehem remains a symbol of peace that does not come from external glitz, but from a person's inner attitude and relationship with others.
Deputy Ombudsman Dr. Jože Ruparčič warmly welcomed the message from the scouts and expressed his deep agreement with this year's message. He emphasized that relationships between people can be healing, so it is extremely important to nurture them. He emphasized that nurtured relationships can also overcome obstacles in the field of human rights.
This year's Light of Peace from Bethlehem campaign also has a charitable dimension. Voluntary contributions collected during the distribution of the flame are intended for the Junaki 3. nadstropja association and to support missions in Uganda, while part of the funds are also intended to help members of the scout community in need. In this way, the Light of Peace transcends its symbolic meaning and translates into concrete help for people.
