The Ombudsman receives the Minister for Public Administration on a familiarisation visit
The Minister for Public Administration, mag. Franc Props visited the Ombudsman Petr Svetina on 19 March 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange views on outstanding human rights issues in the field of public administration in Slovenia.
During the meeting, both Minister Props and Ombudsman Svetina stressed the importance of responsiveness, accessibility and efficiency of the public administration as the foundations for ensuring and respecting human rights. Public administration must be brought closer to the people and procedures must be optimised to serve the people and their needs.
Mr Props highlighted the projects implemented by the Ministry to improve access to public services for all citizens. The Ministry is strengthening the back-office operations of administrative units, which are increasingly implementing digital commerce, and making available to citizens services such as eContracting, which allows them to make an appointment to visit an administrative unit, and eGovernment, where users can access administrative services via the internet.
The Minister and the Ombudsman stressed the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation in the formulation of policies and projects that take the rights of citizens into account as far as possible.
