Ombudsmas intervention leads to dialogue between railway authority and AC Molotov

On 17 July the outgoing director of Slovenian Railways (SŽ) Igor Zajec requested the intervention of ombudsman Matjaž Hanžek in a dialogue with representatives of the AC Molotov group. The ombudsman welcomed the suggestion with open arms, and suggested to the SŽ director that in a sign of good faith he call off the G7 security personnel, and immediately conveyed to the Molotov group the suggestion of dialogue.

Today, following a week of tension, talks began between representatives of Slovenian Railways and the Avtonomna cona Molotov (Molotov Autonomous Zone) group. The SŽ representatives gave an assurance that the approximately 15 young people who had been staying in the building since the previous Thursday could come and go freely from the building, while the G7 security service agreed not to prevent the bringing in of food and water.

This arrangement should be in place at least until Monday, when alternatives will be sought at a second meeting. During this time the Molotov group will try to find a new building they will also approach the City of Ljubljana for help where they might set up a new autonomous zone. SŽ also offered to the inhabitants of the building the possibility of storing free of charge their equipment for a short period , since they had some valuable items which could not easily be moved to new premises in a very short time.
