Campaign Launched and the newsletter published on Human Rights Day

A strategy on promoting children's rights

The ombudsman's office launched a campaign on 10 December - Human Rights Day, which is to draw attention to children's rights. A series of television advertisements have been made to draw attention to the most burning violations of children's rights, namely domestic violence, disregard of children's needs and opinions, and problems faced by children of divorced parents.

The office of ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek has also published the first edition of a free newsletter entitled ‘The Ombudsman – How to Protect Your Rights’. The main aim of the newsletter is to educate people about their rights, show them ways to seek help and redress wrongs and in this way contribute to reducing violations. The newsletter will be publishing three times a year.

On the occasion of Human Rights Day, Hanzek also called for the public to respect differences, not to make divisions and not to be misled by politicians. The ombudsman also expects politicans to bear greater responsibility for citizens.
