On the day when 17 years are marked since over 25,000 nationals of former Yugoslavia were erased from the permanent residence registry, and a few days after first decisions retroactively reinstating the the status of some of the erased were issued, Ombudsman Dr. Zdenka Čebasek - Travnik welcomed the ministry's decision. She also stressed that all those who were involved in the disputed regulations in the early 1990s should be held accountable.
Ministry's decision was also welcomed by Constitutional Court President Joze Tratnik and Amnesty International Slovenia. Amnesty expressed its hope that this would be only the first step to erase what it called the black spot on Slovenia's international reputation.
