Some 1,000 people gathered in front of the government palace on Thursday, demanding that the troubled apparel maker Mura be saved. After a five minute silence the workers and supporters of the company clenched their fists and raised them above their heads.
The protesters, hailing "for Mura" and "for victory in the battle for Mura", were joined by representatives of other companies and Human Rights Ombudsman dr. Zdenka Cebasek - Travnik.
The president of Slovenia's largest trade union confederation ZSSS, Dusan Semolic, said that the politics and Mura's owners did not hear or understand the calls for preserving Mura.
"That is why we decided to express our demands differently today - with a silence. Today, faces of Mura's workers will speak. If they do not understand that, woe to them."
