On 5 September the Human Rights Ombudsman Matjaž Hanžek met with the president of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Dragica Wedam Lukić. In their working talks they exchanged views on the role of the ombudsman in procedures at the Constitutional Court, on the fulfilment of human rights in certain areas, as monitored by the ombudsman, and on observance of the decisions of the Constitutional Court in legislative work and in the decision-making of administrative bodies and courts. They also agreed on methods of further cooperation.

The Human Rights Ombudsman and the president of the Constitutional Court pointed out especially that disregard of Constitutional Court decisions which determined unconstitutionality and charged the legislator with putting this right within a certain deadline, represented neglect of the duty to protect the human rights of those who are affected by such neglect.
