Anti-discriminatory workshop in Kosovo and for the police officers in Celje

The Human Rights Ombudsman occasionally carries out workshops for confronting discrimination and taking action for specific target groups. Ombudsman’s assistants carried out one such workshop between 28 November and 1 December for the employees of the Ombudsman in Kosovo in Priština, and in the beginning of December for the employees of the Police Directorate.

During the workshop in Kosovo various bases for discrimination proved problematic, from gender, disability, ethnic origin, to age, language etc. In addition to the Ombudsman’s representatives, the workshop was also attended by the representatives of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and Council of Europe (CE).

At the Police Directorate in Celje the participants expressed the pleasure of having the opportunity to become familiar with the mechanisms and forms of discrimination, which they didn’t know earlier or weren’t aware of them. As many times before, this time, too, the need for cooperation and integration of different actors in the fight against discrimination at a local as well as national level (police, media, civil society, local communities etc.) proved necessary.

More details on the workshops are available here.
