The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia Unveils a New Visual Identity

The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia presents a new visual identity that reflects the institution’s core values and its mission of protecting human rights, dignity and equality in a modern, recognizable and thoughtfully designed way.

The new visual identity places people at its centre. The new logo consists of stylized figures representing individuals in society and their interconnectedness, cooperation and dialogue. One of the figures is highlighted in a different colour to represent a person in need of support, protection or advocacy. It also symbolizes the Ombudsman’s role of standing alongside people when their rights are at risk.

The design incorporates multiple layers of symbolism. The hexagon, the logo’s basic building block, represents balance, justice and stability, while the circle symbolizes wholeness, unity, inclusion and the universality of human rights. The logo can also be interpreted as a stylized eye, representing vigilance, oversight and protection.

The new visual identity preserves the institution’s seriousness and credibility while also making it more approachable. Blue symbolizes public trust, the rule of law, responsibility and justice, while green conveys optimism, openness, development, a forward-looking approach and a commitment to environmental responsibility.

“Our new visual identity is not merely a visual change. It reflects our commitment to people, accessibility, openness to dialogue and the effective protection of human rights. We want people to recognize in the new visual identity an institution that listens to them, understands them and helps them exercise their rights,” emphasized the Human Rights Ombudswoman, Dr Simona Drenik Bavdek.
