Miha Horvat confirmed as the Deputy Ombudsman by the National Assembly

On 16 December 2021, the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia confirmed the proposal of the Election Committee for the appointment of the Deputy Human Rights Ombudsman. This term of office has been awarded to the recent deputy Miha Horvat, whose term of office ends on 29 March 2022, and he will continue carrying out this mandate on the following day.

“With his recent work and expert knowledge, deputy Miha Horvat has proven to be the most appropriate candidate, therefore, he should continue with another term of office as Deputy Human Rights Ombudsman. Regardless of the past period I see him as an important member of the team, who has the appropriate knowledge, skill and competences to perform his duties in areas that are of exceptional importance for the Ombudsman. Due to his competences, engagement, enthusiasm and personal integrity, I believe that he will continue assisting me in the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms of the citizens of the Republic of Slovenia,” was the statement written in the proposal by Peter Svetina.
