Reporting to International Monitoring Mechanisms

The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia does not operate solely at the national level; rather, it is also integrated into international human rights monitoring mechanisms. In this context, the Ombudsman regularly cooperates with various international organizations, such as the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the institutions of the European Union.

One of the Ombudsman’s key tasks is to prepare and submit independent reports on the state of human rights in Slovenia. These reports complement the state’s official reports and provide international bodies with a more comprehensive and objective insight into the actual situation. In these reports, the Ombudsman draws attention to identified violations and systemic shortcomings and offers recommendations for improvement.

By participating in these processes, the Ombudsman contributes to greater state accountability in respecting international obligations and to strengthening human rights protection standards. At the same time, it ensures that the voices of individuals and vulnerable groups are heard at the international level as well.
